The peer-led process recruits S2 pupils who undertake the programmes as volunteers through extra curricular activities.

All training and delivery sessions within the process are linked to the Curriculum for Excellence - Health & Wellbeing, and clearly identify where the programme is meeting outcomes and at what level.

Training covers a variety of health related issues, focusing on drugs, alcohol & smoking, sexual health, puberty and services where they can receive help.  It also encompasses leadership and communication skills, decision making and developing a sense of citizenship and responsibility. These soft skills are transferable, which will enable peer educators to become;

  • Successful learners
  • Confident individuals
  • Responsible citizens
  • Effective contributors

As outlined in the Curriculum for Excellence.

S2 Peer Educators deliver a 4 week programme to all P7 pupils in the associated cluster primary schools.

The programmes use resources designed and created by young people including issue-based films, games, picture discussion cards and workbooks.
