Emergency Contraception

Emergency contraception (sometimes known as the morning after pill).

The sooner you take it the more effective it is.  Drop-in is open Monday to Friday between 2 – 6pm and on Saturday between 1 – 4pm.  Different types of emergency contraception can be taken up to five days after having unprotected sex, but the sooner you take it the better it works.  Talk to a member of staff on the phone or in Drop-in if you are unsure of the choices available to you.

You can also get emergency contraception and advice from:

  • GP (your own doctor)
  • NHS 24 (Ph: 111)
  • Your local chemist/Pharmacy (e.g. Boots or Superdrug).  The service here is confidential, private and free even if you are under 16.
  • Tayside Sexual and Reproductive Health Service, Ninewells Hospital – for times click here
  • Please note you cannot be given the emergency contraceptive pill for a friend /girlfriend to take
